Minister Barham Visits An-Najah National University, Praising Its Academic Achievements and the Technological Advancement of Its Medical Clinics and Laboratories.

His Excellency Professor Dr. Rami Hamdallah, Vice Chairman of the University's Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of An-Najah National University Hospital, today, Monday, May 26, 2025, welcomed His Excellency Professor Dr. Amjad Barham, Minister of Education and Higher Education. The visit, attended by University President Professor Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Zayd, aimed to discuss ways to enhance the quality of higher education, advance scientific research, and ensure the quality of educational outcomes.

Professor Dr. Hamdallah welcomed the Minister and his accompanying delegation, valuing this visit as it falls within the framework of constructive cooperation and integration between the Ministry and higher education institutions to develop the environment of education and scientific research.

He added, "The achievements realized at An-Najah National University, whether in terms of infrastructure, academic programs, or innovation and technology centers, are the fruit of a comprehensive vision that believes investing in education and scientific research is the most worthy investment for shaping the future of the nation. We call for expanding the horizons of partnership with the Ministry in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship, and institutional development, which contributes to graduating generations capable of advancing national development in various sectors."

For his part, Minister Barham expressed his admiration for the remarkable progress achieved by the university, its provision of an integrated educational and entrepreneurial environment that meets student needs, and its attainment of prominent global rankings. He emphasized the importance of continuous cooperation with the university to ensure the provision of the best levels of education and services to students.

Barham highlighted the importance of this visit in enhancing and integrating efforts to preserve the quality of higher education, support scientific research and innovation, and contribute to preparing qualified cadres capable of leading national development across various sectors, keeping pace with global developments, and serving the needs of the local and regional markets.

His Excellency the Minister also met with Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Fares Abu Shamma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences; and Professor Dr. Allam Mousa, Director of An-Najah Innovation Park, along with several faculty and administrative staff members. The meeting was dedicated to discussing academic issues related to the quality of higher education, ways to develop study plans, and enhancing educational outcomes to align with labor market requirements and modern scientific developments.

The Minister was accompanied during the visit by Dr. Mo'ammer Shtiwi, Head of the National Commission for Accreditation and Quality of Higher Education Institutions; Dr. Shadi Al-Helo, Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Development; Dr. Ihab Al-Qabaj, Advisor to the Minister; and Mr. Samir Tanna, Director of the Minister's Office.

The visit included a field tour of the university's facilities, notably the Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality Center within "An-Najah Innovation Park (INNOPARK)." This center is a strategic step towards enhancing interactive education and connecting students with the latest digital technologies. It aims to support modern teaching methods and provide an advanced experimental environment for developing students' skills in artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, and 3D design.

The delegation also visited the laboratories of the Medical and Health Sciences Complex on both the New and Old Campuses to learn about the research and training capabilities the university provides to students in medical and health specializations, and its role in developing national competencies in the fields of medicine and healthcare.
